Last night I had to run out to go get a pack of cig's, I started the truck and turned on the lights and no dash lights. My head lights are working and all other lights on the dash work (blinker indicator's, brake, wait to start, etc. . ) I checked all my fuses inside the truck - all good, someone said it could be a bad light switch - checked it and it is fine. I also have something else I can't explain, my parking and running lights aren't working, but when I set the alarm they DO flash off and on as always. Is there an in-line fuse someplace I am missing? I don't get it, HELP!!

Dash Lights

It still sounds like a fuse, check the number 5 fuse in the dash fuse panel for the dassh lights. Fuse 'E' in the PDC is the fuse for parking lamps.

Hmm. If they work, but not when you use the dash switch, I would hazard to guess that the switch is malfunctioning.

Dash fuse #1 provides power for parking lights and the dimmed dash lights. Dash fuse #5 is powered from the dimmer; it supplies power to the dash, radio, A/C and fog lamp switch dimmed lights.

I don't get it either. According to the DC bible, the security relay does not operate the parking lamps - *only* the headlights. If you have an after-market security system, all bets are off.

If your parking/running and dash lights are not working, it can only be dash fuse #1 or #5, or a bad headlight switch. ... Of course, there *could* be a disconnect between fuse #1 and the switch. That's all there is to the circuit related to *both* parking/running and dash lights not working simultaneously.

Caveat: My bible is for my 98 12V. I don't *think* they would have changed that much wiring mid-year for the 24V.

Fest3er,

Last night while playing with the light switch I noticed that the dash/parking/running lights come on when I pull the light switch out half way and jiggle it a little, when I pull it out completely to turn on the head lights they go back out. I purchased a replacement headlight switch and will try again with the replacement again.

Thanks all,

It was the switch, the first replacemnet switch I tried was bad also and that is what caused all the confusion. :(
