My fuse for the tail lights and instrament lights keeps blowing. It's the one marked Ilum. I can't find any reason. Any ideas, please. It's dark going to and coming from work, I need this fixed tonight or asap. Thanks.

Sounds like a short to me, check trailer harness wiring, if you can unplug the harness to the trailer plug and see if the fuse holds... ... .

Where does the factory trailer harness unplug? I unpluged the canopy harness and removed the tail lights. The fuse still blows.

The last time I ran into this problem, there was a short at the trailer plug, it was an aftermarket one someone had wired in!

For the tail lights; If all fuses are good and all bulbs are good and in place, your prob. is either a loose main plug to the rear of the truck,or a bad ground in the tail section.

Check to make sure the main plug is ok. Locate just behind the L. front fender under the driver's door, under the truck.

Check for faulty ground by taping into one of the t. lgts. ground wires. Attach a scrap wire to it and ground it on the frame. If it works ,add a new ground wire. I did this last month myself. Hope it works.

If youare blowing dash illum. fuses it's got to be that the 12v wire for the dash is grounded. Have you installed a new stereo lately?... . There is an illum. wire in the stereo harness.
