Lil' bit more involved I.Q test

Ok I know its a Ford by please try and help. 96 Ford Mustang with a 3. 8L V6 auto in it. When sitting still with the transmission it park you can hear a rumble sound, not a deep rumble but midrange. When you put the transmission into neutral the sound goes away. It only does it in the forward gears. I am going to check the transmission fluid level tomorrow as a start. If anyone has any ideas or suggestion they would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Doug

Rumble

Could be you nailed it, just low on fluid and you are hearing the pump, also could be plugged trans. filter. bg

Noise

Also might want to check the tighhtnes of the bolts where the torque converter bolts to the flexplate, could even be the transmission mounting bolts. bg

Ford had a problem at one time with convertors. If I remember right, the car would shudder when leaving a stop sign or light. HTH
