I'm ready to install Autometer Ultralite Pyro (4344) on a 2000 RAM turbo diesel. I'm mounting probe preturbo and have no problem with that. Where do I hook into for light source so that they dim? Also, where do I hook into for 12 V positive that does not dim?

I'm also installing the Autometer transmission temp (4357) and need to know where to hook into ignition switch.

My Dodge shop manual is on order but has not arrived yet !

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I just finished mine the other night, although there not autometers there about the same. For the dimmer I took the face plate off the dash(one screw in the power outlet) then it snaps off(be careful) then pulled the headlight switch out and tested the wires till I found the dimmer one and tapped into it(no cut it) then tested wires under the dash for a keyed hot source. Haven't got the EGT to work yet, might have a bad part.

Did mine the lazy way, I used a "piggyback" fuse tap (available at any NAPA or AutoZone) and simply hooked to the fuse for dash lights. Easy. In fact, a lot of shops doing gauge installations do it this way. Some people might object to having a wire or two running across the tops of the fuses, but it's out of sight, it works, it's cheap, no cutting or splicing necessary...

I did the same as Briar Hopper... I went to the back of the fuse panel and took off from the lights, and used the cig. lighter wire for the main power. Works fine and its easy! Just be sure to let your insulation run right up to the bitter end of the connector on the back of the fuse panel and tape it for extra security to eliminate possible short out.

Piece of cake!

Thanks for all the information. Since I don't have my Dodge truck manual yet can someone tell me which numbers or fuse positions in the box to access?

Thanks

Position 5 & 8

Can't remeber which is which. If I had to guess 5 switches with the lights and dims. 8 is switched power from the key. Easy enough to check with a meter though. Good luck,

Garrett
