Archived Help please, wont "run"

I'm haveing a problem and need some help.

The truck has been running great. Went out today and it would fire but not run. finally started, then I shut it off and it would not start again.

I have power going to the relay and it will fire but will not stay running. If I turn on ignition and pull up the shutoff solenoid it does not stay up. If I put power to the solenoid at the harness it (the solenoid) works. If I put power to the brown wire to the relay, the solenoid works. I dont have gas guage but I can hear a little fuel when shake the truck (I "should have enough for another 100 miles unless my milage went down the tubes. I do have fuel in the filter drain. Also I moved around all the relays and fuses.

Any Ideas?

Check for power at the stay up wire on the solenoid. If you have power there and the sol. will still not stay up it is probably a bad sol.

You could take an ohmmeter to the stay up side of the sol and see if it is open.

Before you go much further make sure you do in fact have enough fuel.

I just drove it by wedging something in the solenoid to keep it open. It looks as though I get power to start but not to keep it running. I'll check the power at the solenoid with the key on.

problem solved.

I took the relay apart and found a burnt contact, twisted it a little and she fired right up. going to get a new relay today.

Thank you for the help and saveing me $200 or who knows how much if the dealer wold have done the work.
