I just tried to switch the Firestone Ride-Rite air bag springs from my 1995 truck to the new 2000. I found two problems.
First, the overload springs in the new truck don't allow as much room for the Ride-Rites as on the 1995. Second, the SuperGlide hitch (I'll post on that after our June vacation) mount is directly in the spot where the Ride-Rite mount should go.
It doesn't look like I can use an air spring at all. Does anyone out there know if Monroe, or any other company, is still making the Load Leveler shocks? These were shocks that had a standard tire air valve (Schraeder valve) and could be pumped up to keep the truck level under a load.
I would also consider any other solution to the problem of keeping the truck level under varying loads. Any ideas?
