Hey fellas: I'm in the middle of swapping in a 16cm housing, have the turbo and housing out on the bench, and it's siezed where the two pieces meet, and I mean tight... .combo of 13 years of heat and good old Ontario rust and salt, she wont come free. Any Ideas or tricks ? I have it soaking in penetrating oil overnite. Should I just take a cutting wheel and split the old housing ? :--)

No. Soak it in a container of oil/diesel whatever snake oil you have. Then use a heavy hammer and hold the bearing section in your hand and hit the housing. It pops off quick, so have the retainer bolts in place, loose like.

Mine was on since 1992 here in Ohio. You can't get rustier than that.

got it...thanks

got it... . went to google, searched "16cm housing replace" found an old thread from another forum, talked about using 3 bolts and nuts to "jack" it apart..... worked slick as *****... . simple, just needed a helping hand... .

the internet is a wonderful thing for rookies like me.....

thanks fellas... . :-laf

freezer

Put it in the freezer for about an hour. Take it out and add a little heat to the housing and it will seperate.
