Anyone know off the top of their head what size wrench or breaker bar the idler pulley takes? Serp belt broke on way to work this am, I'm getting ready to go back and install new belt and can' for the life of me remember the required tool.

Thanks!

Thanks Guys!

3/8ths. Fun job in 5 deg in snowy parking lot. Just the way things work, I had looked at the belt 3 weeks previously, and could not see any problems. Damn thing snapped in two, just as if you cut it. I guess it was overdue:eek:

The first time I tried to change the belt on my '92 I had a HORRIBLE time getting the new one on! Later a friend told me a trick that has really helped. Remove the top alternator bolt and loosen the bottom so it can pivot. It will rotate toward the motor effectively reducing the needed belt length... making it easier to install the belt. After you get the belt all the way on, you can pry the alternator back into place and reinstall and tighten the bolts. Hope this saves someone some grief.
