Someone call the Guiness Book! I think I'm going for a record here - I'm trying to see if I can be the slowest installer of these guages in history! (No free time and I want to do it right!)

1) How in the world are you getting those big connectors down between the dash and the A-pillar so as to be able to feed them through the firewall?

2) Do the guages really just press into the Autometer A-pillar mount without trimming? It seems like a really tight fit!

3) I just realized there are no lights on the guages (unless you manually turn them on) Is this correct? So at night you have to scroll through the menu to get them to light up?

4) Any harm in wiring the power lines (for two guages) together and the grounds together?

BTW, I'll be reading pre and post turbo temps, boost and transmission temp. (as soon as my new factory '95 transmission line gets here!)

Scooby, here's a few answers to your questions...

1. Big connectors down the a-pillar and firewall...

Well what I did was tape everything together into a compact bundle with electrical tape. This made it MUCH easier to pull down the pillar. Also, I took apart the "L" connector, and that made things easier as well. As to getting them through the firewall... Go through the large grommet that all the other wires go through. TONS of space, and the connectors fit through with no problem.

2. Fitting gauges in pod...

I had to do a fair amount of sanding/filing on my pod to get the gauge to fit in there. Be sure the fit is sung, but not too tight.

3. No lights in gauges... Menu on/off...

You're right, there is no separate lighting circuit in the gauges. You do have to scroll through the menu to get the light to come on. You could just leave the light on all the time if you want. But it takes about 15 seconds to turn it on/off via the menu system.

4. Wiring grounds & power wires...

I don't see any problem in doing this. Will not effect gauge operation adversely.

***Be sure to wire the gauges to a power source that is on with the accessory circuit and with the key-on circuit. On my 2001, I wired it into a 10 gauge wire under the dash. Black with a white tracer, can't miss it!

Could you be just a little more specific about getting them from the A-pillar to under dash? Did you get it down between the A/C vent and upper dash or along the side so that you could see it when the fuse panel door is removed? Taking apart that L connector for the boost module makes a lot of sense!

Here's a tip... Take an old wire coathanger, and unfold it into a single strand. Make a small hook in the end to connect the wires to. Take the coathanger and use its stiffness to find a path from the top of the dash to the bottom. COnnect the wires to the little hook, and pull them through. Piece of cake. Should be plenty of room to run the wires.

One more tip, tape all the wires together under the a-pillar, so they won't get pinched when you snap the trim piece back on.

I also had a little adventure with the apillar cover (snapped the lowest clip off!) A little liquid-nails works great and the pillar snaps in and out now. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow... I plan to finish it all up (except for the transmission temp sensor (still waiting for the new line).
