Ok - I don't have any fan speed EXCEPT on high. So stupid me I bought a new control - installed it - AND NOT THE PROBLEM! Still only high fan speed..... HELP ... .

Check the blower motor resistor under dash inboard of the blower motor.

The blower motor switch directs the grounded side of the blower motor thru different resistors to control the blower speed. In high speed the resistor is bypassed. I've got the manual page 8w-42-4. couple of tests should find it.

Use Ohm meter to check resistor for continuity, all terminals should show some relationship. But black/tan connection to tan should be the highest resistance (slow fan speed, resistors in series).

Turn the blower on high, pull the plug at the resistor and the blower should continue to run. Switch the blower to any of the slower speeds and the blower should stop. Ground the black/tan wire coming from the motor's negative side and the blower should run in high speed.

Use ohm meter measure resistance at truck side of resistor connector to ground:

Switch to low speed, tan wire to ground should show connection to ground.

Switch to med 1 speed, light green should show connection to ground.

switch to med 2 speed, light blue should show connection to ground.

Good luck, Rich

I had the same problem, replaced the resistor and it worked fine for a week then it went bad again. I now have to replace the blower and the resistor (think the blower is going bad and pulling to many amps or something). Should have replaced both of them the first time... Oh well.

Help!! I've got a 96 and can get nothing but hot air to blow no matter where I set the thermostat. Even on a/c it blows hot only. The thermostat dial feels hard to turn on either end. Anyone experience this and find a fix?

Thanks,

Paul
