Hoping for suggestions, Travis at Industrial Injections has been VERY helpful, but I am hoping some of you can help. I have an oil leak, :( , that appears to be coming from between the center section, and the exhaust housing. I have checked the down pipe for oil, it is dry. I have checked the oil inlet fitting on top, no leaks. I have checked the oil drain/return tube for restrictions, and replaced a misaligned gasket. Industrial wants me to ship the turbo to them, however, the truck is my work/only vehicle. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I must also add, that putting my stock turbo back in, is an option that will cost me a couple of hundred dollars in exhaust work.

I totally emphasize with you as my truck is my only transportation, unless you count walking, mountain bike, or 45 mph top speed jeep! I plan all my modifications around weekends and vacations so I'm not out too much and even then I've been burned and left walking or bumming rides off friends. Anyhow, do you have an old SPS 62? I thought the new versions of the SPS turbos allowed one to retain the stock turbo exhaust elbow???

I know you're not keen about reinstalling your stock turbo and downpipe. If your downpipe is or is not not welded to the horizontal exhaust under the cab can you do the following? I kind of went through the same experience in a way. A few weeks ago when I replaced my SPS 62 and installed the twins I had to put a different downpipe in so I sawzalled the old one off and then took 2 bungee cords to "pull" the exhaust pipe away from the new downpipe until I could get the exhaust finished a week later. The remaining exhaust work including removing the muffler and going straight pipe was only $94!

Yes I ran with an open downpipe - it was loud and obnoxious, but at least the exhaust was directed away from the engine compartment so it wouldn't get sucked in through the vents.

Where do you live? Maybe some nearby TDR members could help? Local turbo shop? Rent a car?

Maybe someone has another turbo with the same flanges that you could borrow to swap in while yours is sent off for repairs?

Why cant II just send you a replacement and you send yours back. Customer Service? Come on they have sold so many of those turbos. My brother had a HPVP44 from II and the pump ran great till about 20 miles later. Called II and I had to take it back off and mail it back to II($50 S&H) for them to look at and tell me a o-ring was bad. Why could they have sent me another pump. CUSTOMER SERVICE? We spend $1700 on a pump that did not last one day, instead a truck being down maybe two days it was down two weeks. Great customer service guys.

I would reinstall my stock turbo, except I had to sawzall the old down pipe, and would either need a new down pipe, or the stock flange rebuilt into a new down pipe. I have a 2003, that had the 4" to 3. 5" elbow, so I got the "HX40" down pipe from I. I. I was hoping, that they could send me a brand new turbo, as this one has less than 300 mi onit, but they said no go. Oh well, I guess I am either truck less, or out the money to re-do the down pipe. By the way I live in Santa Cruz, CA.
