Banjo bolt question

Please help. Coming down highway, heard a loud swoosh. all of sudden, no turbo boost. pulled over and hoses looked fine, took air box off and turbo spins, but no boost. PLease help as i have a original tst box . thanks

Check all FOUR clamps on the BIG hose from outlet of turbo through intercooler to engine. These clamps have been known to let the hose get loose (it may just be a part of the hose end). = loss of boost.

yeah, i just checked the small hose from the elbow, so the tube from the airbox to the turbo is the entry to the turbo, the other side there are 4 hoses?

Actually it is EIGHT clamps. From air box to turbo is INLET. You want to check air path from OUTLET of turbo (on front and below INLET) to bottom passenger side of intercooler and then from bottom driver's side of intercooler to engine. This air path is a combination of thin metal tubes (LARGE diameter) and flexible hoses. Eight clamps to check.

The "large swoosh" sounds like one of these clamps let an end of one of the short flexible hoses get loose.

thanks

thanks forthe info. i'm going back to my campsite to try this. i was using a web computer in the mall. i love this site!

JJRSMP12, Check the inter cooler conections at the bottom under battery boxes on each side my lower hose has blown off sevaral times on my 96 under high boost. Check Clamp at the turbo and work down. I find it easiest to lay under front bumper just in front of tires and you can see the lower hose conections, mine always blows off on the drivers side at the bottom.

You have a turbo clamp and 8 hose clamps 4 hoses. you can use a 7/16 deep well socket for best results .

Hope this helps

JJRSMP12, what's your 10-20? Where you at? I just got home from camping, myself... If you still don't have the truck fixed, email me right away, -- email address removed --. if you can email from the mall terminal... . or post on here. I'll keep checking. Need town name, campground name, truck description, etc.

Could be a blown intercooler... Seen that once. Those things are NOT cheap...

Could even be a MAP or IAT sensor that fell out... That is nearly impossible, but it is worth checking.

I'll bet it is an intake hose with a hole in it, with a good chance is is the first one after the turbo, because it rubbed on an A/C sensor.

Keep us posted!

I check the clamps on my hoses at every oil change... the one that gives me fits is the second one... the one that is at the intercooler inlet. I may have to do something more permenant.

Although there are more and more Cyber-cafes around the country, this is a very good example of why we should all sign up for Travel Companion. The next person you save may be yourself!

Rob. . the '01's have spring clamps on the first clamps [on turbo side] you can get them or get the ford clamps that are spring type also. . if you need part #'s e-mail me. . [I have them out in the truck]

Gary... next trip out to the truck, I would take those numbers!

I just can't believe more people have not signed up for the travel companion... Evan... you aren't on there yet!

Rob. . here ya go

#YC3Z6K786DA. . need 6 ea.

#XC3Z6k786CA. . need 2 ea.

Info compliments of Bryan Kenny of the diesel-central.com site

BTW these clamps are a little wider than the Dodge ones [a good thing]

THANKS!

Thanks for all the replies for fixing my problem. It turned out to be the clamp came loose on the turbo hose pre-intercooler under passenger side battery. I have never had to fix this and didn't know much about the hoses. This site is awesome. We stayed at Kentucky Horse Park campground for the week. Again, thanks to all... :)
