I am looking for so help I went for a break and my transmission and went to leave the office I noticed my truck never shifted into second. I drove around the building to see if it would shift into 2nd but it never did. I even tried to shift it manual still never shifted into second. I have to drive aboout 60 miles to work and this morning every thing seemed fine I had no problems no slips no bags nothing. Any help would be great help.

Thanks,

Matt

Faulty VSS can be a cause for this, as can a loose or damaged wire between the VSS and the PCM. I had a similar problem w/ my '98 and threw a lot ofmoney into it before I found the actual problem. Check out the thread I started on 5/13/06 and the responses I got. That might help you find the problem.

99 Service manual states the VSS in 99 is not used. I pulled mine while having other issues and it ohmed bad. Bought one from Auto Zone checked at 600 ohm's and installed. Nothing changed. This is the VSS installed in the trans. The moral of this story I guess is that the manual was right in stating the sensor does not do any functions and that they stuck one in there in 99 to fill a hole.

had the same problem on mine and it was the govenor pressure solenoid in the trans. it was under warranty at the time so they replaced it. From what I hear it's a pretty easy change. Good luck :)

My governor Pressure Solenoid went bad and i could only get it into first Manually... I just went ahead and had the whole thing rebuilt.
