Well got a new issue, every time it rains and I am on the highway, the transmission hunts for overdrive. As soon as the road and weather clears all is fine , transmission shifts into overdrive fine and never skips a beat. any one out there have any suggestions where to look to correct this issue. . many thanks. . I have a 99 ram 2500 4x4 diesel.

there is a sensor drivers side on the tail piece of the trans. It has 2 wires . could be water is getting in and shorting it out. remove it and clean the sensor end and wire connections on the plug . check wires for chafing. It controls o/d. Cheap to replace if necessary. Hope is helps.

Fourbarr, that sensor you mentioned is that the speed sensor? Is it sealed. When I unplugged the electrical connector, transmission fluid started dripping down from inside the sensor. Is that normal?

Are you sure you're not experiencing the T/C lock unlock scenario that is so common to the older 2nd gen trucks? Reason I ask is that I had done every mod to resolve this problem on my '99 and when it rained the dreaded lock / unlock came back. There are hundreds of posts dealing with this issue and may help you to narrow the field into what's really happening.

goodluck!

it hasnt rained in a few days, but i will make note on the wiper issue, i am not sure if the truck acts up before i put the wipers on. that will be the next observation. . thanks
