truck has been dying when i pull up to a stop sign. Does not want to start up again also. when i pull a little grade or go down small grade does same problem. Also when at idle for a while it wants to die and picks back up. Thought it was fuel line in tank, so jrobinson1, doc cullen, and i changed the entire fuel system to a 1/2" fuel system, from inside tank to vp 44. Left the professors place and truck died at the stop sign. Also truck does not throw a code, ... ... ..... help please any suggestions will be appreciated, ... thanx, ... reb

Guessing that you already checked your fuel pressure ? I've been through 3 Mallory pumps, they don't last IMHO.

Does your tach bounce when the engine dies?

Your sign does not say what year your truck is.

Your symptoms sound pretty much like a faulty Crankshaft or Camshaft sensor.

Depending what year model your truck is...

From 2001. 5 the Crank sensor is no longer used.

the truck is a 99. I had a bouncy idle about twenty thousand miles ago and i thought it was the crank sencor, and it was. I changed it and truck ran fine. Now everything works great, does'nt throw a code, but every once in a while, and the code does'nt last long enough to get it checked. I'm gonna order a cam sensor and maybe a throttle sensor and see what happens. What does the cam sensor do on a 99 truck? thanx again, reb

Crank sensor

The Crankshaft sensor on the '99 is used for engine speed and engine timing purposes. A faulty sensor and the truck will die @ idle speeds.

Have had the same problem here. The connections to the Cranksensor were faulty ( oxidation ) the code wouldn't last long enough to read it.
