HELP  Truck started to act up on my wife last Monday night. She said truck was possessed started to take off on its own. She tried the cruise control and it went to 60 mph and back down to 40 mph on its own. I got in it to drive it home, engine started to rev to 2000 rpm and back down with no movement on the petal, check engine light came on . I've had problems with APPS before but it always reset. Not this time. Ordered a new APPS senors $287 + tax. Put it on today still does the same thing ????. It goes to 2000 rpm. then back down to 800 rpm then back to 2000 rpm over and over. The only code I got was 1693. I've disconnected the battery's over night , tried to reset the APPS, Taken all the connections apart cleaned and reinstalled them. Grounds are in good shape, Voltages seem OK. Does the ECM need to be re-flashed ???, Could it possibly be the camshaft position sensor ??? Running out of options!!!! HELP!!!!

The 1693 code on your odometer doesn't mean there isn't another code in the ECM/PCM memory. I've had two occasions where the 1693 was the only code displayed, but a friend at a Chrysler dealership pluggd in their OBDII scanner and found other codes as well.

Also, read a post that a wire on the APPS can fray or break, possibly the idle or off-idle wire...

I spent the money and bought Alex Peper's OBD II Software and cable. Received it today . After clearing all the codes and restarting the truck I found out the new APPS sensor I bought is what is still giving me all my headaches I'am going to recheck the cable going from the EMC to the APPS again just to make sure one of the wires is not frayed or shorted then if I can find out how to I'll test the new APPS. I sure wished I had Alex's Program along time ago it is great and I haven't even used all of it yet.

Oh by the way the codes I was showing in the ECM was P0123 & P0121

I put on second APPS today . Still not running right.

APPS is now responsive on the OBD-2 software, but now the MAP is showing 75. 2 in-HG all the time even shut off. Here in Lower Michigan the pressure should be around 29. 92 in-HG.

It seems like its one part after another I wish they'ed at least all go to  :-{}. at the same time. Now here we go waiting for another part to come in at the dealer.

Finally Fixed. :)

Had to take it to a dealer. Third APPS was bad also found out ECM was only giving me 4. 5 volts to APPS and not 5 volts. Thats when I took it to Jason Rourk @ Century Dodge in Taylor,Mi. . I cannot beleive how nice they were. They replace the APPS, and ECM under the extended warranty and did not charge me a penny

Their even trying to get my money back on the one APPS That I bought myself.
