The wife has agreed to let me spend some money Oo. . But I can't decide what I want more, performance for the truck, or more guns. What I want for the truck is, a Smarty programmer, and a turbo, not sure which one yet though. The guns I would like are, another Glock Model 21, Glock model 23, and a Smith and Wesson Model 629.

I don't really NEED any of these things, but I think either choice, guns or truck stuff, would be really fun !

What would you guys do ?

Jeff

Believe it or not, I'm kinda thinking along the same lines as you, that we're gonna need them.

This is only a few of the guns I want, I have to stay within the budget though.

Jeff

kinda depends on your situation, personally id do the truck (safe is fairly stocked) but a toy is a toy which one would make you happyer short term :D

I'd forget the truck & guns (if you've already got lots of firearms). I'd buy ammo, either factory or reload supplies. I've got plenty of firepower, always need more ammo.

If your short on firearms, buy them.

One more note, buy that Glock & a small underseat gun safe. Then you can call it an "upgrade" to the truck.

I am with Cummins Pilot, you sort of get the best of both worlds.

The gun control folks have been pretty quiet lately, especially with all of the recent school shootings but you can bet after election day if the Democrats take control of the house they will start to push for some "common sense, gun control. "

Although if they are smart they will keep thier mouth shut, and wait until the presidential election in 2008 is over, as they will most likely be in control of the White House and at least House of Represenatives, and perhaps even the Senate.

Then our guns really will be in danger.

All my gun funds are headed for the truck but I need another gun like a hole in the head :-laf

I need to sell a couple guns I don't use before I buy another.

Buy one gun and the Smarty. Set the Smarty on a low setting and save up for the turbo.

I don't consider myself too paranoid, but I have been bolstering my cache of firearms, ammo, food supplies, water etc. Being in CA it is a good idea to be ready for earthquakes anyway. Given the escalating world unrest (as well as a general lack of unity in our own population) I feel that being self sufficient and the need to protect my family and property is at least a small possibility in my lifetime.

So, I would vote guns for myself. The cool thing is that guns are fun just like truck parts.

That is exactly the way I feel.

For some reason it never occured to me to do a little of both  . I'd really like the smarty and maybe one or two guns. The only problem with waiting on the turbo is how long it could take. I'm using bonus money for everything truck and gun wise, and it sounds as though our end of the year bonus may not be what we would like. The ammo is also a big one for me, but I've already got a decent supply of ammo. Wouldn't need more ammo than I could resonably carry with me.

If you don't read the Usenet group rec. guns, you may not be familiar with their unofficial motto:

Buy 'em all! :D

In the future, like 20yrs from now, your truck and all the stuff you hung on it won't be worth much. Guns hold their value. Just my . 02.

The statements about the holding value of guns over the truck and its add-ons are very true, and I've taken them in to consideration.

Another thing that crossed my mind is the winter season that's coming right up. We get snow here in the winter time, so I don't know how much I can enjoy the Smarty on the snow. My truck still has the stock tires, so I get plenty of spin out taking off from lights and stop signs with out the Smarty. I may buy the guns now, and the Smarty and maybe a turbo, budget permitting, in the spring.

By the way I'm looking at the 629 with a 5" barrel

Jeff

I know this is an old post. I'd like to know how it turned out.

For my $$ I'd get a gun and training for it and ammo.

I haven't checked but I bet 20 year old trucks are going for close to what they cost new.
