Archived Help Vacuum Pump won't separate from Power Steering Pump

I have removed all of the bolts from the power steering pump but I can not get it to separate from the vacuum pump. What am I missing I have both pumps off the truck and on the bench. The gear that drives the vacuum pump has threads in it for a rather large bolt is there some type of puller that I need to get theese two to separate?

Hello, Take a rubber hammer and whack it gently a few times and it will come apart. The first time I did one it was kinda difficult as well and thats what worked for me. Just be sure to hold it over a bench so it doesn't fall to the ground when it seperates. Hope this helps, Chris
