Vibration just started. Usually around 55- 60 mph and mostly when I let of the throttle. All U-joints appear tight. Any ideas??? (2003 2500 Quad 4x4 with 93,000 miles) Thanks, Jerry
Short bed or long bed? My shortbed just had the two rear u-joints replaced. It was manifested by a vibration that became progressively worse (and it squeaked and clunked in reverse). I had he dealer do mine and it was $340. You can get Federal / Mogul part numbers for your driveline and save a bunch of bucks over the DC parts
Its a short box. I replaced the rear u-joint at 30,000 and I assumed it was a sealed u-joint like the original so never bothered to check for a grease fitting. Realized yesterday that it does have a grease fitting with almost no grease in it. Anybody have a part number for autoparts store u-joint, Ill try that first.
My truck started to shake and rattle when driving slow and decelerating. So, it's in the shop with 71K miles for universal joints. Purchased them at NAPA for about $28. 00 ea complete with grease fitting. The box stated made in Japan, so I hope their good ones.
JCaron - Just like MMeier says, you can get the Precision brand (these are the Federal Mogul parts I think... ) the 351 part number. I got my Precisions (for the front axle) from the NAPA store - call before you go.
