putting in my Vulcan relocation kit for my lift pump. Spot behind transmission crossmember doesn't leave much room for fuel line from tank to pump without some significant bends, spot right in front of the crossmember seems a little tight- HELP. Where should I mount the bracket???

Thanks,

Don

I did mine a couple weeks ago and I too found it very tight, especially since I wanted to put a shut-off valve between the tank and pump. There is a big hole forward of the tank and I put my bracket toward the front of that hole... drilled one hole and used the holes on the bracket closest to the frame. I'll try to get a pic and post it today.

I finished mine for now, I've only got one bolt holding the bracket to the frame, I will drill another one next week-end. Ended up putting the pump in front of the transmission crossmember as the more rearward location crimped the supply line from the tank. 14 lbs at idle, drop to 12 at WOT. I'm happy with the kit and the results.

roto... . what kind of shut off valve did you put in? A pic would be great.

thanks

Yeah, I've got a pic now... excuse the wiring mess... still installing a sat radio/nav unit.
The valve was picked up at the local hose and fitting store in Reno. It says "Italy" on the yellow shutoff handle and the part# on the invoice was #MV 609-6. The gas tank is just out of the pic on the left. Like I said... very tight fit but I'm glad I did it before another pump change. The next one will be a walbro or similar.
Hope this helps...

Shoot, just take a pair of vice grips and clamp the rubber line if you need to change the pump :)

I made my own kit. My pump is basically sitting over the hole and the bracket goes off to the side to bolt into the frame rail. :)

Sounds like you're a long bedder cause it's tight w/a shortbed using a vulcan type set up. Getting a vise grip in there is tight. For me I might as well bite the big one and stick a valve in there at the getgo. Has already come in very handy and I know I'll be using it again.

I was able to drill new holes and mount mine BEHIND the crossmember...

Thanks for the reminder... ... I need to recheck the bolt tightness!

I installed mine where there is a clamp for the fuel and brake lines, just behind the cross member. Instead of just running the line from the tank to the pump, I ran the flex line past the pump and looped it back to the inlet side. This kept the steel line close to the frame from the tank and allows for extra hose to work with for replacing the LP in the future. I can take a pic sometime if someone wants to see what I'm talking about,

I did nearly the same thing as Ben, except I installed a DrawStraw and a suction side strainer using fuel hose. I was under it today, after close to 10,000 miles and nothing has budged, or loosened.

Nope it's a short box quad cab.

I the same thing as well. The end of the metal fuel line is too close to the pump just to run it direct without kinking it.

Hook the line into the metal fuel line, make a loop and hook it to the pump inlet. :)

I will get a pic of my set up today. I've been busy the past week after getting back up here to Iowa to take some much needed leave.

Cowboy, what kind of filter mount is that and how did you put it all together? Also, are you running the stock filter as well now?
