I have a 2004. 5 bone stock except for the new 35" tires. I pull a 14' cargo trailer, about 6,000 lbs daily in town. I would like to add an upgrade or two. What can I do without upgrading the transmission? I am thinking about a box that is adjustable. Possibly something that will allow me to adjust the speedometer. What is reliable. I have a 12v that is built for racing. I just want a little more pep in the 2004. 5

Thanks,

Jeff

The stock transmission starts to slip at about 70 to 80 extra hp. I would say go with a towing box. I had a quad race box adjustable upto 140 hp and burnt 3 clutches with it on performance setting. Quad gives good power and no smoke but will not adjust for bigger tires.

I just ordered the Quadzilla standard tune box for my 2006. I was going to go with the non adjustable 65hp XZT but since mine is a manual trans and the next box up wasn't that much more, that is the route I am going. I have my own EGT/Boost gauge set-up so the Edge/Attitude wasn't necessary and even without the attitude:-laf both it, the Smarty and the TST are a bunch more money than the Quad. For our trucks that standard version Quad is 30/60/100 hp and nice torque gains. I also was unable to find any substantial complaints about this box, so cost and performance wise it was the best choice for me.

I have been told that Edge products are prob the safest on the market if you are not wanting to upgrade your transmission. The Smarty might also be a better choice for you because it is not adjustable on the fly and you won't be too tempted to see what it can do. :-laf You could set it on the #3 setting and leave it there without messing up your transmission from what I have been told.

Jeff. At first, I did the usual exhaust/intake then added the Edge Juice/Attitude. I used it responsibly and my trans held up fine for about 30,000 miles. Then the bomb bug got me and I had the trans upgraded. My Juice/Attitude may be for sale shortly. Let me know if your interested.
