Ok today I installed a #11 plate/elbow as per Pier's instructions every thing went well but I doesn't seem to run much different than the plate I took out (truck ran well from what I can tell, I use to drive a 6. 2) I'm not sure if the plate I took out was stock although all the nuts and bolts seemed to be original paint. Minimal if no smoke so I adjusted the star wheel 3 times, 3 clicks ea toward the engine, and no change. AFC and #11 back in the same place as what was there. The plate I took out had numbers on it (24287), any ideas if this is stock?. Here are profiles off both plates. The gov lever comes in on the #11 about halve way up the first slope. Boost max's out at about 32 and ET +1050 pre. Any Ideas? Thanks.

when I installed my plate I also installed the AFC housing back in the same place . BORING moved it (AFC) housing full forward and made a big difference. Hope this helps

Something I will have to try, Forward meaning to the front of the truck?, This is a picture of the stock plate before I took it out.

When I installed my TST 230/605 plate I slid the AFC as far forward as I could. I then turned the star wheel 20 clicks toward the engine. Figured if it was too much smoke I could always turn it back some. It is easey and quick to do. Any way mine smokes quite a bit when I stand on it from a dead stop. It is easy to control as when normal starts it dosent smoke at all. Very controlable by the go pedal. Dont want smoke drive normal. Want smoke floor it. Hope this helps.

Move the plate forward about . 030 at a time and try that, I don't know what a #11 looks like but the pic makes since to me, fuels better in the mid range then cuts back a bit on top to control the EGT's... . get back to us!

Jim, Should I start by moving the plate or do as Dave and Wally said about moving theAFC housing? You can see by my picture that it looks like my AFC housing is almost to the rear (oblong slots around holes)? Thanks for the replies:)

Slide your AFC all the way forward and crank on that star wheel quite a bit, 3 clicks isn't enough to make any noticeable difference. Also make sure your governor arm is adjusted correctly as per Pier's website. If all else fails, slide the plate forward gradually, as already mentioned. Good luck.

I spent a bit of time reviewing Pier's gov adjustment but it isn't very clear where it should be depending upon type of plate. I mentioned that mine begins about half way up the bottom slope, any ideas if this is correct? Thanks

I would slide the plate and the AFC housing full forward and see what you get. If you dont like that much power or smoke you can start movin em back till you are happy. My AFC housing has been full forward since the day I got the truck and other stuff added since then hasnt changed my mind on that. Also if you turn the star wheel so its all the way to the front of the truck your boost will pick up sooner (smoke too)

Today I moved the AFC housing all the way forward and yup this seems like it has done the trick, The truck most deffinatley launches much better, Tire break loose alittle bit in 2nd when you mash it. Only a small puff of smoke (which is fine with me for now) when you first get into it. Exhaust runs clear even with foot on the floor. Haven't been out on the highway enough to hold it down to see what ET rise to as well as I would like to hook up to aload to see how temps behave. Once I've determined that things are OK i'll start sliding the plate. Many thanks to every one who responded to my questions, Cheers,
