Hey guys, I have my 97 12V running in my conversion. I have the #10 full forward and 3KGSK. 4" straight pipe, and 4" BHAF intake, 450hp SB Clutch. I do have gauges max boost in about 35psi and EGT have never went over 1000* empty. This engine runs great! I still am going to get the timing set at 16*. This thing does not smoke at all! I can get a little puff if I lug it in 5th, but that is about it. I am wondering if I can get away with adding some mild injectors to get a little more power? any suggestions.

Thanks

This is way better than the tired 351 that was in it Oo.

I just learned I should check my overflow valve, sounds like it may be bad. The folks at Peirs said it should smoke real good with the setup I have.

I run a pretty much similar set up. Until about two weeks ago I got almost no smoke even with the DDP stage 2 injectors (plate and AFC housing centered) even when I really got on it. However, a couple of weeks ago, I started noticing black smoke anytime I accelerated with boost over about 10 psi (fuel economy hasn't changed much). I'm still trying to figure out what changed but I'd think you could go 215 or DDP stage 2 injectors without generating much smoke but still getting more power.

I was told the difference in the winter blended fuels will make the truck not smoke dont know if this is true but I can really smoke in the summer and just a little in the winter.

I'm wondering if the warmer air is less dense so the amount of air going to the engine is lower and causing the truck to run richer especially under acceleration. If that is the case then I'm wondering is a bigger turbo will fix the problem. I've noticed that when it is 30 out the truck doesn't smoke hardly at all. When it is 60, I've got to be very gentle to keep it from fogging out the guy behind me (although that does cause the tailgaters to back off).

air temp and density are relitive to the effiency of a turbo and air to air but on the coldest day in WV I could still smoke well. cheak that valve and tell us how.

My truck can smoke plenty, any time of the year.

I can get some decent smoke going and the ONLY BOMB I've done is 370 injectors.

Oh yea, I re-adjusted the starwheel a little. :-laf
