.416 Rem

So I got this 94 GEO Metro with 117,000 on the OD and it is burning 1 quart oil every 300+ miles as well as not passing Oregon DEQ emissions test (duh).

Long story short is that I have to get this POS to pass the test or I'm walking to work.

So I'm open to suggestions like buy a used Japanese import motor and a gasket set or re-ring kit and head worked on?

Go to the auto parts and get some motor honey. It is thick and helps with blow by. If it is failing because of high nox then run the car at high rpms right before having it tested. These help to pass most cars. Good luck.

Well it finally passed.

The Motor Honey helped control the oil consumption (thanks LG)and a new Cat brought all the failing levels down but not enough - it still failed so I bit the bullet and bought a low mileage Jap import and last Saturday it passed with flying colors.

Now - Does anyone have a fm/cassette or cd deck, speakers and a sound track of a CTD out pulling a PSD or DMax so I won't feel so naked without my Cummins?

Wish me luck as I brave the highways and bi-ways in a 1,600# coffin:(

Go to your local NAPA parts distributer and buy a bottle of Garanteed to pass emissions stuff. I believe it is part number 723-2983 and the line is BK (BallKamp)

I am having burned exhaust valves replaced in my 3 cylinder Metro head as I type this. These engines spend too much time at wide open throttle to endure the thick catalyst bed that is in their exhaust system. If you can come up with a way to run without a converter except for the day you go for an emissions test, do it. You will enjoy less oil burning, and longer engine life. As for me, there is no emission testing in my area.
