After taking out the dodge tank and removing the sending unit, I noticed that the new Aero tank has a vent on it that appears to accept some kind of a vent cap. My old tank does not have a raised vent in it and as I look at them both, the is a difference here that concerns me. The new tank did not come with a cap to put on this vent. The tank is supposed to fit my 2001 long bed, but i don't want to put it in without a cap if its needed. Of course, Aerotank is closed until the 3rd and I get call center when I call them. The nice lady takes my questions then says, " they'll call you back". Oh boy. Well the instructions pretty much are usless for my question.

If anybody has help to offer here , please give me a call on my cell.

Thanks,

Steve

day 2

I'm beginning to think that there were supposed to be more packages delivered with the tank, possibly with a vent cap or epoxy and instructions. A couple of posts mentioned epoxy on the install and i'm guessing that it is used on the sending unit install though the old gasket looks fine. The threads are below the upper fuel level when the tank would be full so maybe the epoxy seals it better... I don't know. I called Aerotank again this morning and a call center answered, (ok it's a holiday) and I explained the situation to her. She put me on hold and when she came back said, "the aerotank recording said to call 911". Okee dokee.

To make matters worse, the tank is interfearing with the driveshaft yokes and it looks like the hard fuel lines on the inside of the frame rail need to be relocated... . but i'm sure that is explained in the instructions that didn't arrive. :-laf I'm hesitant to bring out the sledge to make this fit as there is a remote possibility the the tank might have to be returned.

Good thing the weather here in CA is relatively mild... . looks like i'll be on the motorcycle until I can get some assistance from Aerotank.

Deep breath... .

Doesn't look like Aerotank has instructions for download from the website - too bad, some companies do and it would really help right about now.

Did you check the part number you received against the website? Might verify why it has fitment problems.

Hopefully somebody that has the instructions will read this. Good luck.

parts is parts

SS,

Thanks for the idea. I checked the part # and it's the right one, though I didn't see the vent I have in the website pic. But, I did pull my invoice and it appears that the Ring and rollover valve were not delivered with the tank for some reason. I'm not sure what else in in the kit that is out there in lala land but i'll fire up the FJR1300 tomorrow and break out the cold weather riding gear. This may take a while to resolve... keep your fingers crossed.
