Was leaving work today, gave 'er some pedal as I was accelerating onto the highway. I had the Edge/ programmer turned up then heard a loud **Bang** I continued to merge onto the freeway, then noticed a significant loss in power. Looked at my autometer boost gauge, can't get anything higher than 10 lbs of boost. I limp my truck to the side of the road, get out and can't see anything. I get back in and merge onto the highway barely any power and almost get rear ended by a semi because of the lack of power. I limp my truck home 8 miles from there and get it home. Call Dean at Orangevale Diesel, tell him what’s wrong, he says check all of the boost tubes and hoses to the IC, then check the IC ends. Sure enough, my passenger side IC end cap has separated from it's assy. What options are out there aftermarket in terms of IC? And did I damage anything driving the truck home? Also does anyone know what code ( P 0299 ) refers to? Any help appreciated dearly.

Banks makes a real nice setup- Their Technicooler. Much larger than stock, plus 3/4" bigger piping and intake horn. I think they're about $1200 but can be had for less if you know where to look.

I don't think you would have damaged your motor unless your EGT's were out of control.

Banks makes a replacement 3rd gen intercooler, (only one I know of)

As for the 299 its an "Underboost" code that will derate engine power way down to not selfdestruct your engine in such a case of loosing boost to the engine. It will reset in a few starts without a low boost reocurance.

Thanks guys for the info, much appreciated  Just to let everyone know, turns out my IC is toast. I've got a check engine light and code P 0299. I limped my truck back to the dealer, unfortunately theres no IC in stock so I have to wait until next week. I ain't complaining because my truck isn't exactly stock :-laf and they are how do I say this..... covering it under warranty.

Was your IC a plastic or metal ended intercooler. I blew out my plastic IC on my 05 and put a Banks IC kit on it instead since I was mislead by the dealer that Dodge stopped making metal coolers. Come to find out they put plastic ones on early 05 then changed to metal one late 05. Wouldn't cover under warranty since I had Bullydog on. They claimed it overboosted it and burst my IC... They were full of 'ish.
