Hey all, I got a check engine light last night on my way home.

I got a 1693 and a 0253. I know the one is a companion code, but what is the 0253? I did a search and I found the generic description, but that's no help. Also, all the searches came back with people that had similar codes.

I recently hooked up the wire to my DDUFM. Could I have a bad ground, as I did move it to the intake horn? Should I be worried about this code?

I have 12 psi idle and less than 5 at WOT, box on kill. There is a slight bucking but I was guessing this was due to running out of fuel. And yes, I am addressing the fuel issue.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Thanks!!

Dave

Well you know I had the same code, PO253, pop up like 2 weeks ago. But it would only throw the check engine when my drag comp was on 5x5. So what I've been told by the Cummins Service Manager at Rocky Mountain Cummins in Henderson Colorado, is since the Drag insists on producing fuel after 2700 RPM that the pump is saying that their is more fuel than there should be running through the pump. Won't hurt anything as far as I know #1 because the VP44 is oiled and cooled by the excess fuel and #2 if fuel pres. is high at 2500-3000 RPM, THATS GREAT!

Thanks for the reply. So far, there has been no ill effects from the code. I did get it when I got into it really hard on 5x5 coming up a hill walking away from a mustang.

My fuel pressure was dangerously low, so maybe that tripped the code?

I am addressing the fuel pressure issue, I just wanted to be sure I didn't hurt this thing. I have to at least get her down to Rip's tomorrow for some traction aid. .

Did the code and Check engine light clear themselves?

Thanks again!!!
