Everytime I go to the DC Service Manual for 2000 with 2001 supplement, I go nuts. Some things are straight forward, but others... . . On the axles, I know that I have a Dana 60 in front and a Dana 70 in the rear. In the manual they talk about a 216 and 248 FBI, with a 248, 267 and 286 RBI. I assumed that I had a 248 for the front and a 267 for the rear, these numbers equating to the 60 in front and the 70 in rear. Can someone out there equate the 216, 248 front and 248, 267, and 286 to the Dana numbers? This will go a long way in helping me get the correct amount of fluid without gallons left. Thanks.

The #'s that the manual is using are Dana's metric listing for the ring gear size. Example 267 mm equals 10. 54" for the Dana 70.

Hope this helps,Thomas

I just re-read your question.

248 FBI = Dana 60 front axle 9. 75"

248 RBI = Dana 60 rear axle 9. 75"

267 RBI = Dana 70 rear axle 10. 54"

286 RBI = Dana 80 rear axle 11. 25"

Thanks, that makes sense on the amounts that I've been able to get in on fluid changes. I meant to do this last time and forgot, so now I have enough to do another rearend change. I'll mark it down this time :) .
