When towing with my Edge Comp on 1x1 or 2x2 I get a miss at 1700-1900 rpms when under a load (climbing hills). Turn Edge off and it goes away. Any suggestions?? Stock truck with 4" exhaust, Goeroend Triple Disk converter and transmission... 3. 54 rear end.

Thanks,

Don<><

your right on the temps, this past week-end we had our first cool temps, although closer to 60. Didn't try the other levels as I was pulling our 5th wheel and at level 3+ the EGT's stay a little high for my taste. Sounds like you've heard of this before... . what gives?

Thanks,

Don<><

What is your fuel pressure reading when the miss occurs? I'd say that you are starving the vp44 of fuel. Thats what happened when my truck had a stock LP, but I caught it to late & fried my vp44.

Fuel Pressure 11-12 PSI, never less than 10.

Is this bad for the engine, what's actually happening (fuel timing issue, timing issue, or??)

Yes I'm in OD with TC locked up, making a 700 mile trip with same trailer this week-end will try other power levels and fuel settings. ONLY happens when the engine is under a load - towing uphill. Not detectable when "getting on it" without a load.

I believe it is the cummins having an issue with the lookup tables. Mine was always most noticebable in 6th gear between 35-45 degrees. I was told it is jumping between the cold and warm temperature tables. The advanced timing makes it more noticeable.

Not to change the subject, but I had a problem with my drag comp this morning. I started my truck & noticed that the stage 2 light was lit, but no other light was on. I tried to adjust it & got nothing. Then I tried to shut it off..... still nothing. I checked the connections & all were good so I unplugged the power at the fuse box & plugged it back in. The lights lit up & all buttons worked properly. I walked into my house to get my cell phone & when I got back it was the same thing... stage 2 light only. I repeated the process & it worked well for the rest of the day. I never had this problem last year when it got cold. Could it be a cold wheather problem? Maybe this is what you are experiencing also, but in different ways.

mine has just recently started this i switched boxes with a buddy and same thing. Ive had a comp for a long time and never noticed this. Im thinking my injectors might make it more noticeable. i didnt have them last winter.

Yep, mine does the same and a buddies is even worse. Mine started after I added the injectors. Have read a fair amount on this and the best answer I have received is that it is due to the advanced timing the Comp offers + possibly a dirty or fluctuating signal of some sort (APPS?) + the larger injectors which amplify the problem and make it a lot more noticeable. I am certain that it is not the Comp because I notice the same type of surging, to a lot lesser degree, with the Smarty on #9 and the Comp off.

I know some wont like this or think I'm just Duuuhhh but I had this problem and also fixed another. Not saying this is the problem in all these cases but its an easy problem not to see. Check the wire tap. It must be tight on the wire. The copper that is. In the best of worlds this connection should be soldered. Any interruption of signal or weak connection will give you fits. Just check it. I resisted too until I finally caught it.

I get it a little bit and I have not tapped the pump. I think it is timing as others have said. SNOKING
