I started installing the GSK I ordered from TST today. When I tore down the springs, I found a total of 4, including the outer idle spring. The new kit also had 3 inner springs. The instructions I am finding all refer to there being 2 inner springs for the 3000 GSK and 4 for the 4000. Did TST send me the 4000 kit? Should I install all 3 or just the larger 3?

I'm in the middle now and stuck. Don't know whether to go ahead or back up.

I thought I had the wrong kit also ... and even put them in and back together w/o the outer spring ran like a bat out of hell but wouldnt idle at all not even with big adjusting ... LOL had to tare it back apart and figgured it out ... . BESURE TO RUN A MAGNET on the bottom (where the springs set) to get ALL the shims out they can be sneaky

Under the shims will be the old spring seat be sure to remove it and start with all the new stuff, follow all the directions and you will be alright.

I got to it via the fender well and am glad I did. I checked several times, both with the magnet and visually, on both sides. The only shims were for the large idle spring. I kept looking for more but because I could see pretty well into the gov. , I'm confident that was all. Test drive went well. They did just what I hoped. Not overly aggressive but conversely, the revs went up over 3K without appreciable EGT rise Under 1000). Time will tell when I get my RV connected.

Thanks go to GAmes for the tips.

I have a question concerning this as well. Figured I would ask here instead of starting a new thread.

I installed a 3K GSK this weekend. The kit had a total of 6 springs and 2 lower seats. I pulled out a total of 3 springs from each side as well as a lower seat and what I guess was a shim on top of the lower seat. The big outer spring was still in the truck. The directions (TST directions) I had never mentioned how many springs to put back in so I put them all back in the same order I removed them. A large spring (not as big as the, idle spring I take it, still in the truck, ) a medium spring and a small spring.

After finishing up I find that several posts on the board mention only installing 2 springs back in and reusing the the large (but not big outer spring) on the install.

My question is did I install the right springs?

The truck started up and ran just fine. Well the idle was a bit high so I adjusted that, to low actually, so its in for another adjustment tonight. But other than that it ran great and I love that it keeps pulling where before it would die off. :-laf

I've learned (come to the conclusion based in what I've read), that TST sent me the 4K GSK which includes the smallest spring. That is the difference between the 3K and 4K kits. If you put in all the springs, you have installed a 4K GSK. If it runs OK for you, leave it and use your foot to keep you below valve float speeds.
