I'll save the story cuz its in the 911 section but...

How do I lock the engine to keep the timing centered for when I put the pump back in. I've got the new pump set and ready to go but I can not get the old pump out.

I'll be searching for the answers.

Did you pop the gear loose on the front of the motor? That would keep you from getting you pump out. I took my pump out when I had the motor at TDC. That way the key is at the bottom, not everyone does this. Its just a suggestion.

I suggest the other TDC so the key is at the top. The new pump will go in correctly with the keyway, and lining up the marker line on the outer foot with the one on the gear housing. Those who want more timing, rotate the pump so the top of it is closer to the engine. Just a little, please, if you don't have a way to measure the timing.

Thanks guys. I was able to finish removing the pump and got the other one back in. Now the battery is charging so later on we'll see if I did it correctly.
