Need some help with a jake brake installation. Installing a new Jacobs exhaust brake on my brother in laws new 2006 3/4 ton truck. Everything went well, followed the instruction sheet to the letter but have one question. There are 4 wires coming from the stack switch that mounts to the 6speed shifter. Yellow goes to the ecm on the motor, green and red wires go to the solenoid valve that controls the vacuum but where does the black wire go? I'm thinking it goes to ground. Instruction sheet doesn't say. Ready to fire off when black wire is connected.

It was a ground on my brothers 04. 5, but I won't bet money on it. Get a fuse [15a] & hook the black wire to one end & get a small piece of wire & hook it to the other side of the fuse & try grounding it to the battery..... This way the fuse will blow before damage.

Good call Chuck. The narative in the installation guide gives the splice info but isn't nearly as clear as the diagram you refer to.

Black wire

Thanks for all of the replies on my wireing problem. The black wire from the stalk switch along with the yellow from the relay and green from stalk switch are all ground wires. For anybody doing this job in the future make sure that the wires that go to the ecm on the engine are pushed in good so you can fill them snap in. If they arn"t in all the way nothing works.
