I am in the middle of a custom build. I transplanted a 1957 White semi truck body to a 2004 4X4 dually 3500. I have a 96 5.9 from a manual trans truck (came with the White when I bought it) mated up to the 04 48re. I am looking at going with a Fire Punk stand alone controller. Fire Punks website says it needs to be connected to the TPS which is not on my engine. I also have a cruise kit that will need a TPS as well. I should mention I do not have any computer for this truck as the PO was going all mechincal. Here are my questions.
1 Does anyone know how to wire in a TPS where there was none and there is no computer?
2 Thoughts on the Fire Punk controllers?
Thanks

TPS circuits are normally 5 volt. 5 volts is supplied by the ecu and the TPS returns a portion of voltage to the ecu and that is interpreted as how fast you want to go (rpm wise).

You can make a 5 volt circuit and use any tps that you can make work. You might want to find one from a junkyard automatic truck.

The transmission.....you’ll likely be better off back fitting it with older valve body and ditching the electronic throttle valve servo. Your setup has no way to control much of it so your going to have to dumb the transmission down to work.

Thanks for your reply. How do you go about making a 5 volt circuit?
As for the trans, I've been pouring over that for some time. Probably too much info online but not much in plain english. I gather from what I've found that I could go with a hydraulic valve body but I don't like the idea of having switches for OD and lock up. This truck will be my daily driver when it's done. The Fire Punk controllers are supposed to be independent, adjustable and under $900.00. The TPS returns the voltage to the Fire Punk controler. I'll have to check with them on the 5 volt suppy side.

So, you have a P-pump 12V from a '96 and a 48RE from an '04.

I would say you'll need the TPS and a Crazy Carl's APPS Kit to mount it to the P-pump:

I have one on my truck where I put a '95 12V engine in a '98.5 24V truck with a 47RE.

You don't have anything from the '04? No PCM, ECM, or wiring harnesses? Your cheapest and simplest route may be to find a PCM and wiring harness from a 48RE equipped truck. I do not know what inputs the PCM will need to make the transmission work. Maybe someone like cerberusiam can tell you. There's a fellow here that goes by "odieub" that may have the OE parts you need. Send him a PM.

Ditch the 48 and if you really need the OD, get an adapter to GM, and put a 700 in there.
