Hello everyone, I’m Jared, I’m new to the forum and I need some help. My 09 2500 6.7 cummins recently started spraying the windshield washer fluid when I’d turn the wipers on. The first delay position does nothing but the other positions will continually spray the fluid except the last two no delay positions. However when in the no delay position the high beams are on and cannot be turned off???? Oh btw I thought it might be the multi switch so I replaced it and yeah, it’s doing the exact same thing...strange. Any help or insight will be greatly appreciated.

While I have never heard of your specific problem before, the multi function switch which controls the wipers and turn signals has known failure points inside that tend to make its operation parameters erratic. Below is link that will tell you how to remove, clean and reinstall it. Or you can buy a replacement from Amazon or a dealer and then simply change out the entire switch. NOTE: There is NO reason to remove the steering wheel or clockspring as the stalk/switch ca be removed by itself from the steering wheel.

Here is a link that tells you how to remove, clean and reinstall the MFS on a 3rd gen truck.

And here is the part # you will need for a 3rd gen truck if you simply want to replace it.

No worries. I have already replaced the switch thinking that was the problem but to my surprise the new switch does the exact same thing. So the problem must be elsewhere.

Well with that said, I’ll do a little digging into the unit but I believe you’re correct in your diagnosis. Now, do you think it’s better to get a new one from dodge or dorman offers a replacement for around $400 vs $1000+ from the dealer.

If it is an OE part then it is probably better then the after market Doorman product. Is the dealer part 2.5 $ times better than the the after market item, that I have no info on.

Also, check and make sure that MFS is not bad out of the box. I did the same thing for issues withe the wiper and the switch I got was not right. Replaced the wiper motor and linkage and put the old switch back in and everything was good. That said, if the dimmer switch is still not working along with the other things it makes one suspect the TIPM.
