Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Help with next upgrade

Just installed my 4" exhaust from Rip and I definitely like the new sound, also put in a drop in filter for now. I know transmission upgrades are very important,is a new torque converter good enough, probably not so what else should I do to beef up the transmission? I am looking into the edge comp at some point because I can get one inexpensive from a friend. Thanks for any help

I,am new at working on line, but will learn in time. I'am starting to upgrade my 1999 Quad cab 3500, have guages trans temp, pyro,boost, 4" exhaust and afe air box. I'am looking to add a exhaust brake, my truck is a auto. , should I upgrade my trans. first?
