Help with off-road emissions specifications

I am trying to gather information on the new ULSD/electronic controlled/exhaust aftertreatment combination for off-road equipment. I have heard rhumors that Linde (a German company) has forklifts which have been produced in Europe for several years which run cleaner than the cleanest TierIII emission LPG (propane) forklift engines. This is not surprising, especially considering what ULSD has allowed Cummins to do with the new ultra clean 6. 7L. I have a big customer that I want to sell new TierIII diesel engine powered forklifts to. By what I have gathered, TierIII is not required until 2008, but Linde has already beat it (due to being a European company where they have had ULSD for some time). My company is not a Linde dealer, but what starts with one company is soon matched by others. If what I am understanding is true, the new TierIII diesel engines are the safest engines to run inside a warehouse. I just need the documentation to prove this so I can make a sale of about 20 diesel forklifts to my customer instead of LPG. Diesel already has the advantage in a forklift in that it is more fuel efficient and is not explosive like propane or gasoline is if you get a leak. I know the new diesels are ultra-clean but I just need a source for documentation. Thanks for the help if any of yall can help!

John, I would check with your engine manufacturer of the forklift that your customer wants, check there web site, you should be able to print what you need!!!

That engine manufacturer happens to be the one many of us love on this site: Cummins. It is their 3. 3 liter, built in Japan as a joint venture between Komatsu and Cummins. It is a 4 cylinder, naturally aspirated engine. I have not been able to find out any information about specific emission standards for this engine in the forklift we sell (Doosan/Daewoo).

We also sell Komatsu and they use the Yanmar naturally aspirated 4 cylinder.

I checked on Cummins website. It looks like the engine is being produced but not required in USA until Jan 1, 2008. If it is currently being produced in Tier III format, the only additional thing required for Tier IV is exhaust aftertreatment, which is currently available as an option on Tier II. I should be able to pull this off, if I do my homework (which I am working on) and get Doosan to make SURE the lifts will be equipped with the Tier III 3. 3 Cummins, then I can order the optional "exhaust aftertreatment" system. The customer will be running ULSD.
