Removing radiator 1999 drained anti freeze top and bottom hoses removed yada yada yada BUT I can not get the bottles to slide up and out. Whats the trick. Help Thanks
Terry, it's been a while but seems like I had success taking a couple of large, flat bladed screw drivers, sticking them in the slot, and pulling up on the tank. I would imagine anything thin and stiff would work, like a couple of table knives.
Probably figured it already, but flathead screwdriver works great, there is a circular raised chunk on each bottle about center that pops into a circular cut out on the fan shroud. just stick a bigger flathead between the bottle and shround about center and lift up.
Radiators out. Could not get the overflow bottle off but since I had the battery and tray out it came out with just the washer bottle out. Two screwdivers one on each side to hold the big buttons in and out it came. How hard could it be right. pretty tired and needed some help I guessThanks and Id buy you a couple if you were here. You should see how dirty this radiator is. Know wonder it overheated last summer. Thanks again.
They sure can get dirty in a hurry too, had a new rad. put in my '99 @ 150k miles, and have tried to keep it clean since. I carry a pipe brush (for cleaning smaller air ducts), probably 1. 5" diameter, to clean the radiator off when needed. Often have cleaned it off and wondered when I ran over a cat...
To keep the rad from getting plugged up with bugs and stuff, install screen mesh in front of rad. It protects the rad and the mesh is easy to clean with a power washer.
