I am kinda new to Cummins and would like to know if there is anyone around the Evansville, IN area that would be will to help me with mods on my cummins. I am gonna start with gauges and a smarty POD. It will only go up from there. I just need a guide and some know how.

Thanks

Dave,

Starting with guages is the best place to start on the BOMB slipper slope. That being said, unless you have a lot of self discipline, you're going to have to upgrade your transmission to protect against a breakdown. The stock parts will struggle to keep up with much more than 40 extra HP. I would suggest at the very least a torque converter and valve body upgrade. Good luck.

What's your ultimate goal? It's a slippery slope - somehow the once I got the Smarty I need some more air to cool things, then wanted better filtration to protect the injectors. Now I might need a cam for spool and improved MPGs... Maybe some 3. 42 gears since towing power isn't an issue... And a free spin kit for the front so I can back the camper easier...

Well for now I just want alittle power and improved MPG. Evenly transmission, injectors, turbo, intercooler, and some other minor things. I use fleet guard filters from Genos. I am also thinken about the air dog fuel water separator. Riggen a cool air intake. I just need some help with some of it. Some I will have done at a shop.

Open a seperate "Big Toy" savings account.

For 1 yr deposite every spare penny.

Meanwhile your "new to you" truck and plans get through study/evaluation.

How has it been used/abused by previous owner?

1 yr of keeping it the same should allow pretty good understanding of where it's at on any possible issues related to previous owner.

1 yr of saving $$TOY$$ provides great opportunity for perception to meet reality re how much debt load you're willing to carry for playtime fun.

Right out of the box it's a great rig, do you absolutely have to spend more $$$$ now?
