I am on a trip and passing through the Kansas City, MO, area, pulling my 5th wheel. I am experiencing some shifting difficulties and have contacted my mechanic back home, in Oregon. He believes it could be caused by a throttle position sensor out of adjustment. He had just installed the sensor before the trip. He recommends that I go to a Cummins knowledgeable shop to check the adjustment of the sensor. Is there anyone that can recommend someone in the KC area (either Kansas or Missouri) who can do the work, without my having to go to a dealer? Appreciate any help you can give me so we can continue on our journey. Don

What is it doing that concerns you?

Is it the lock up converter?
If so,, mine does this too, it can be very sensitive to where it locks up. I simply shorten the rod that goes to the injection pump from the actuator.

With a 96 the tab that turns the tps may be worn enough to be an issue.Put a voltmeter on the tps, move the throttle to see what is happening. It should start at 1.0 volts and go up smoothly as the linkage is moved

I have put several in my '94 (325,000). About a year ago the problem was traced to the PCM. Replaced it and no problems since.
