It let me down today. After being snowed in for 4 days I headed for town to get a few things and while going down the road it just shut off like I turned the key off. I figured no big deal the fusable link. I got out checked it all out and can find nothing wrong with it. Battery is good, cables clean, no click, no turn over. The lights and buzzer work along with all guages except the volt meter, radio works and fan blows.

Now the weird part I have a cool down timer that had been installed by the PO. I hit the cool down button the buzzer gets a little louder and I hit the key it fires right up. Rund down the road until the timer shuts the engine off. Hit the button and she fires up again. I drove home 40 minutres hitting the timer button every 6 minutes.

Now after hitting the button and it starts the volt meter will fluctuate like the grid heaters are cycling. But no thump of them cutting out.

Any ideas?

No haven't, but is towards the top of my list. The po had a wiring nightmare under the hood and dash. I have worked at getting most of it straightened out but haven't messed with the timer or guages because they seemed to work ok.

Anyone know how the timers are wired into the trucks? I have no diagram or instructions for it. I can figure it out I guess but sure would make things easier. :)

If the PO had problems, I'd get rid of anything that is an unneccesary add-on. I don't really see the need for a shut-down timer, so that'd be the first to go for me. It sounds to me like it's the source of your problem.

OK unhooked the blue wire from fuse position 3 and the timer is unhooked. But still no crank. I can hook the blue wire to the fuse tap, hearing a clicking under the hood.

Well while going around to open the hood and check it out farther. I heard a click and the buzzer started working. Now it starts and runs but I still don't know what the trouble was. I guess I will see if it does it again. I have a short somewhere I guess. I hate electrical work.
