I have a 98. 5 24 v. with 167,000 miles It started first thing this morning and died shortly after. It cranks but wioo not start. Where do I start?

Where is your location and how cold is it? If it is cold, this sounds to me like you might have gelled up. If you are indeed gelled up, a little diesel 911 or warmer weather will hopefully put you back on the road soon. If it isn't cold, it could be a couple of things relating to fuel delivery.

THanks for the reply. The weather changed yesterday its in the high 20,s. Im in north texas and this is cold for here. Its my father in-laws truck and he plugged in the block heater a couple of hours ago with no change in the condition.

Is it running on straight #2 diesel? If it is running a high concentration of bio, I would not be surprised if it is gelling but on straight #2 it seems unlikely. I know it sounds obvious but it does have fuel right? When he is cranking, is there any black smoke coming out of the tailpipe? If there isn't, he isn't getting any fuel into the engine. It would probably be worth checking the fuel filter to see whether it is plugged and also to make sure that there is fuel there. It is possible to get air in the fuel lines which makes the truck not want to start. It may also be possible that your lift pump is dead and not supplying the injection pump with fuel but I am not sure about that. Is there anyone else who knows more about 24V's that can chime in on this?

It is running #2 fuel. We both felt that there was no fuel getting to the motor. We will check for fuel at the Injector pump and go from there. Thanks for the help.
