I got a Mopar transmission filter for a 96' 47RE 4spd automatic, dropped the pan, and the used filter has a metal casing surrounding what appears to be a felt-like filter. The replacement seems to be just the filter material, no metal case; also the hole that the fluid enters the filter has no gasket; also, there are three holes but the old one has two. However, it is the same shape and two of the three bolt holes line up. Parts departments are closed everywhere at this point and i want to get this pan back on and get to work; does anyone know for sure if this replacement filter is right: Part no. 03515996 (83443C also appears on the pkg. ) Mopar? Does the old filter housing come apart somehow?

the better transmission filter is the one without the case. DTT has been using that style for years.

And on my there is no gasket required on the inlet.
