Can someone point me in the right direction on modding a '95 Cummins and auto transmission selection (considering Suncoast's 47RH)? I didn't seen anything in the FAQs...

Well, we need info to help you effectively.

1. Do you have gauges (boost (suggest a 60# gauge), exhaust temp, trans temp (suggest a guage that starts at no less than 100*F) ?

2. How much power do you want?

3. How much do you tow, and how heavy?

You can see all of my engine mods in my sig. Close to 400RWHP. Since you have a smaller fuel injection pump, you will need a few more parts to get the same power I have. One thing I still need to get, is a 3k GSK, so the fuel injection pump doesn't defuel so early. Would suggest a kit for yours as well.

ATS, DTT, Goerend, Suncoast all make great trannys. I do think you will get the best bang for the buck with a Goerend transmission. Build a quality product, with superb customer service (before and after the sale). All transmissions and torque convertors are built to order, and built in house. Been VERY happy with mine. Have almost 30k miles on mine, and no troubles with it at all. :D

if you want a transmission that is great go HTS just ask around about them on here and other forums they are excellent and they put the power to the ground big time.

As for modding that does depend on you and what you want to do and achieve with the truck.

Thanks guys. Been busy and forgot to check back!

1. No gauges yet. I'm deploying and will start the conversion when I return late Oct-Nov. That was one thing I needed to know what temp ranges and boost range so I could plan for the gauges I need/want.

2. I'm really not sure how much but I'd like to be able to take it to the track once in a while and win or at least get close to it! I've always loved getting pushed into my seat when driving a diesel but I guess the biggest thing for me is reducing turbo lag and making sure my setup is solid.

3. I plan on getting a 3-horse gooseneck trailer when I get back to the lower-48. I'll probably go for steel. I just have one horse for now but I want to keep this truck so eventually, the trailer will be full - and I'm into quarter horses so they won't be small! Once I have a vehicle, I hate getting rid of it so I'd like to build it up starting when I get back. As much as I love mud, I won't be off roading much, if at all, with this one but I'll pull people out if they need it and having the power to do it is a big thing to me. The last time I got myself stuck in my last truck, two PSDs couldn't even pull me out but a Jeep with a winch did.

I'd like a 5-speed auto but I don't spend on an Allison. I'm considering a manual but I don't know much about them. I don't know what some of these acronyms mean (like GSK) so I may need some clarification. :) What about just buying another pump? I don't mind hearing all my options. I'm big on budgetting and I'll be able to save a lot while I'm deployed so lay 'em on me!

DTT, DTT , DTT, If you want the best, and you want to stand right along beside them, while they build your transmission, These people are the best!

You do not wait in the lounge, or the next door latte stand, Bill and the Gang/Family, are going to educate you, treat you with respect, most likely feed you, and demonstrate to you exactly, what earns them the honors of "being the best"!

This is how my Son and Myself were treated, TOP NOTCH!

My transmission is FLAWLESS. Shifts perfect, no hunting, no problems, no adjustments to be made.

Thank You DTT!!! Jess

Sixkill, sorry, Elmendorf.

JJPage, thanks for the suggestion and reference. I'll look into them and keep them in mind.
