I was driving along today truck shut off wants to try and start but wont getting a code of p1693 could anybody give me a answer what this code is 2001 dodge diesel

1693 is just a code for the pcm to tell the ecm that it (pcm) has a code, that has nothing to do with your problem, are you sure thats the only code. whats your lift pump pressure

I believe it is a companion code, most of the p16** codes have something to do with computer/auxiliary outputs if im not mistaken. I got this code among several others when my VP went out the first time(admittedly my fault on that one) truck did the same thing yours is doing, hopefully yours is something simple and cheap though.
