Yesterday I was driving down the interstate, heard a noise, the truck lost power and was vibrating violently but I got it to the next exit. Down shifted and as long as I kept the truck at 1,000 RPM to 1500 RPM I was able to drive 40 mph home. When I let it idle it sounded fine as soon as you revved it up it was fine until 2000 rpm it would make odd noise and shake. I looked everything over I don't see any issues, oil was just changed 3000 miles ago. It is a 3500 2006 5.7 liter diesel manual with only 118,000 miles on. I seriously cannot afford major costs and I live an hour away from anywhere to get it checked out. Has anyone had any problems like this? This truck does not have a hard life at all and for the last few months has only driven about 2 to 5 miles a day. Any thoughts would be appreciated, most often we work on it ourselves but everything seems fine except when you get to 2000 RPM.

You need to fill out your signature with your truck information. We need to know year, transmission, mods, etc....

Fuel or air filter plugged, you need to do the basics first. Check and change them if there is any question.

Lift pump is another possibility. Bad fuel yet another.

Injectors would be another guess. Are you seeing any white smoke on start up or when the shaking starts?

You need to get a scanner on it to see if it has any DTC's set.
