I decided to take on what I thought would be the simple task of changing the serpentine belt on my truck (98. 5) without a service manual. Well now the belt tensioner has moved like 5 inches and I cannot get it back into position so I can slip the belt onto the pullies. There has got to be a simple way to do this. I am using a crow bar and pulling on it like mad and I can't get it back into position. Help!

There's a square hole on the tensioner where you can slip in a breaker bar or large ratchet handle to pry the tensioner enough to slip the belt on. I can't remember if it's 3/8" drive or 1/2" drive. Slip a pipe over the breaker bar if you need more leverage.

I route the belt except over the AC. Then with a 3/8 drive ratchet all the way over snug against the overflow bottle you can pull the tensioner enough to slip the belt over the AC pulley.
