Archived HELP - Truck Died and will not start

I don't know if i can post this here but it is a 911. I know this does not involve a dodge i still need help. Any way my friend was driving his Chevy and tonight it seemed like the rear end locked up. To be specific it was the rear driver side that is locking up. I was not driving the truck at the time but the person who was said that it was like the emergency brake was put on but it was not. He has a LSD in there that came with the z71 package that might be the problem. This truck has not had the easiest life but before i tear it down what you all think could be the matter with it. Even if you are driving in a straight line the rear tire will still chip when it lock up. Another think i have noticed is that the Inside of the rear tire have been wearing really bad. I think this might be due to a bent axle but i am not sure.

Thanks for the help.

Chevy

Chevrolet has had some problems with the pin breaking in the lever that connects the emergency brake cable to the brake shoe, sometimes plays havoc inside the drum (if it is old enough to have rear drum brakes). bg

Ahh that good ol' eaton locker. Garbage at best. Mine locked up (z71 as well and while it was bone stock)on me in front of the Ford dealer I used to work at. Sheared the pin but took a while for the counterweight to lodge itself into a spider gear. May wanna check that.

If the diff has indeed lunched itself ... 600. 00 if not and nothing is damaged the pin itself and counterweight springs , and weightset (All one package) are only 80. 00 if memory is right.
