Low-profile Truck-bed Camper Brand Recommendations

Camping near Yosemite after Christmas

Just completed the first trip with a Hensley Hitch. From Canton, Ohio down I-77, over the W VA Pike to I-81 in VA, and on to I-81 to Sevierville, TN, then back roads to Clevland, TN and I-75 over White Mountain to Chattanooga. No sway when trucks passed, even in the curves on the W VA pike at 65 mph with trucks running 70+. Wasn't long or hard, but I wish I had purchased the hitch sooner. The hitch perfoms as advertised, both on the four lane and on the back winding two lane.

Is expensive as hitches go, but well worth the $$. Oo.

Denny, I have had my Hensely hitch for 9 years & never had a problem with it. Wouldn't be with out it. Befor I bought it you never knew where the trailer was going to go, now I don't even know it is back there. A little pricey but well worth the money.

Denny,

Glad you like the hitch. . I had one on my TT toy-hauler a while back and loved it. . One thing you will have to watch for is the Shear screws on the side and top of the frame you drilled... I replaced these with a light weight Nut and bolt. . Double nutted. Then it was fine.

EricBu12 - - I think I'm going to drill and tap the holes to 3/8", and use grade 5 or 8 bolts - - Think this will be better than the self tappers in the long run.

Sounds good. . After I did the fix it never had a problem. . Remember for the winter, I covered the whole unit with a bag to prevent rust.

I try to convince other guys that the other WD hitches just don't compare... My Toy-hauler was a 12k TT and for the price of 10% of the cost of the trailer, it is worth it I think. . I now have a 15K 5th wheel toyhauler and I just bought the 5th airborne sidewinder pinbox... That was $1300... . Good Luck with your hitch and happy travels!

Ditto. I have had mine for 8 years now and probably will never own a TT without one. I guess that it is in the same catagory as an exhaust brake.

For that matter, it is in the same catagory as diesel power. Once you have diesel you can never go back to gas.
