New 600 and GN horse trailer question

Thoughts on Sunnybrook Trailers...

I can't answer that question but I can say I wouldn't be without it. It's the best Safety item I've ever bought and it does do what they brag about:)

I don't have any experience with the Pullrite, but they are up there in that price range also... ... ...

When I purchased my Hensley a few years ago the Reese system retailed for about $1200 and the Pullright for around $1600. What turned me away from the Reese Duel Cam system was that I had understood that it was new to market at that time. However I have since learned that may have been bad information. What swayed (pun intended) me away from the Pullright system, once again at that time, was the limited turning radius and the product being vehicle specific. On the Hensley, I received a discount from an RV show and I was able to get the price knocked down a tad more because I installed it myself. I also drove it to their shop and had them adjust it for me (free!). There are not too many available, but every now and then you can pick up a used model more cost effectively.

This was a very hard purchase decision for me. Having my friends and family thinking I was nuts did not make it any easier. My bottom line justification for the cost portion of the decision was that the product calculates out to a very low percentage when compared the investment I have in the TT and Truck. Of course the value of our lives figure in there somewhere as well.

How can they charge so much? I suppose because they can.

I do think that they have a great product, excellent customer service, warranty and exchange (tow bar) programs. I have already re-painted mine, but other than that I just lube it once a year and it works great.

I had not towed any significant amount of weight or bulk before I purchased my TT so I can't really compare, but after reading numerous white knuckle horror stories I knew that I wanted something. I have had a couple of friends, who had previously towed without any anti-sway products, drive my truck/trailer and they were amazed in a very positive way.

My evaluation is fairly simple. The Hensley product provides sway control (safety), improved turning radius and tracking (drive-ability), weight distribution (centralized to the TT), portability, and I am much more at ease with my wife driving.

I have read a fair amount of refute about the Hensley product, but not from any current or former owners. So, perhaps I am trying to justify my excessive spending, perhaps not. But the Hensley product works great for me!

Hooking up can be a PITA, but a Fasthitch Mirror and Tongue Twister seriously ease the learning curve. It can be interesting watching the trailer sway in the mirror, but not feeling it in the truck. At this point, the biggest challenge for me is to remember that I have a 6500# TT behind me.

Just my $0. 02 fwiw, flame away.....

I was lucky and got a used one reaaal cheap and it is amazing how well it works. It does exactly what they claim, I dont watch for semi,s in my mirrors anymore because I dont feel them when they fly by as there is no sway. I experimented with it when I first got it by dropping the curb side wheels off the pavement at 50mph and then yanking it back on the road and other than the roughness of the shoulder (dirt) it was just like a gentle lane change. If you look one over close you can see its a heavy duty, well made piece of equipment and there is a lot more to it than a conventional hitch. It stays mounted on the trailer at all times and you hook the truck to it. A small learning curve but easy to do.

I've been towing someting for about 20 years. I did the white knuckle thing, along with a few brown spots in the shorts. When I got the 27 foot tt the friction sway controls didn't cut it, so I took the big plunge for the Hensley. It's a pleasure to tow with it, and the old saying "I have to look in the mirror to remind myself I am towing something" actually applies here. Of course the Cummins helps with most of that feeling, but when the cross winds are blowing and the semi's are passing, that's when you forget about the price and relax. Saves on laundry too.
