Has anyone tried the Herculiner Do-it -yourself brush on bed liner? I was considering using it but would like to know if it's any good. Thanks

I used it both on my old truck and on the interior of my Jeep. I like it, but it is much stiffer and doesn't have the thickness that a lot of the professionally sprayed liners have. I will not be doing it again on this truck.

Look closely at what you are asking the bedliner to do. If you are a contractor or really use your truck extremely hard, then I would recommend the professionally installed spray- in liner. If you do not need extreme duty protection, the self installed may work OK for you.

I occasionally do the DIY Home Depot run and haul a pop- up TC. For me the HercuLiner works well for my lighter duty needs.

I did it on my last truck. I followed the directions completely and it looked excellent when first done. It started to thin out over time, almost as though it was washing off the truck. Maybe I didn't scratch the surface enough. Also it started to fade slightly. It isn't as smooth as a sprayed in liner (feels rough like sand paper) Other than that it protected my bed very well and didn't allow loads to slide around like they did when the original plastic liner was in the bed. For the extra money I will have a spray in liner put in my new truck when the time comes.

I did my rockers on my other truck, followed the instructions to a T. It really faded out then started to peel badly. I dont know how well it would hold up in a box with heavy use. I would not use this product again.

It holds up well to abuse. But like some one else mentioned, it appears to fade and come off. I later learned that you need to buy their UV protective coating to be applied over it. Since I learned about the coating 6 months after the fact, I could not apply it with out totally redoing the whole thing, I have not done it. It is easy enough to do, prep is the biggest thing. I took over 6 hours to scuff the bed ( 8 ft ) and wipe it down. Just plan on not moving you truck for 2 days to get it done.

I have an Armacoatings profressionally sprayed in bed liner, but I did use Herculiner on the rocker panels, inside door frames and on my Smittybilt nerf bars. That was in July 2003, and to this day, it has held up perfectly. No peeling or flaking off on my truck.

Just be careful not to "Herculiner your hootus"... . :-laf

I spent the time to do mine because I thought I was saving $$. I'll never do it again! With the time I spent, I could have worked and paid for a thick professional coating. This summer I actually hauled some gravel (there is usually a topper on it) and scraped a couple small patches off (it is sanded rough underneath the coating, you can see it where I scraped it off).

It does keep stuff from sliding around. It is cheap but it does fade. I will be using the leftover material on a couple other small projects but not pick up beds.

Stay far, far away from it! I watched someone who is extremely anal about his work do it. He prepped above and beyond the requirements, it should have stuck like superglue! This stuff wouldn't cover evenly no matter what he tried and a week later patches were peeling off!! And he's not the only person I know who had these results.
